Chicago Soul and R&B Singer/Songwriter Michael Donaby has been on the Chicago local Jazz/Blues scene as a keyboardist and singer since 2004. He has worked with local and national talents in coffee houses, restaurants and private events within the community until 2011, where a serious car accident nearly took his life, yet in his rehabilitation he rediscovered his love and gift of songwriting and a new one of music production. Reared in the church; some of his influences include Bobby Womack and Glen Jones. His debut EP released 8/2017: When the Music Stops included “Candlelight” a Chicago Steppers favorite. His second release 3/2018, “Something About Her” is garnering worldwide acclaim on Soul Podcasts across the Globe. His newest offering “Something Good” is highly anticipated and is to release 7/1/2018. With Michael Donaby, the music never stops and the bar is raised a little higher with every tune.

 

Performing in the RnB/Soul Genre – his style has been compared to some impressive artists of the past and serves as a refreshing alternative to today’s commercial description of Modern Soul Music, and is destined to leave a mark of its own.

 

Discuss your music career.

I started writing and recording in 1997, signed production deal with Toolman Music in Chicago. I played locally keyboards and voice for about 10 years. After a bad car accident in 2012, I lost a leg, stopped gigging and started back writing and producing ever since.

Something About Her is a R&B Soul tune with that Chicago stepping vibe. Something About Her was an honest tune-elaborating on the bright side of relationships from a mature male perspective. I wanted people to get a good feeling about their relationships every time they hear it.
